At the National STS University of Ukraine much attention is paid to sports.
The thesis "Physical training means health of the nation" is embodied in life by the department of physical training which is headed by Candidate of pedagogical sciences, Professor, deserved trainer of Ukraine, master of sports Tereshchenko V.I., and by the department of fighting and special physical training led by the Colonel of tax militia, Candidate of pedagogical sciences, Member-Correspondent of the International personnel academy Subbot A.I.

On the basis of the University's sport center a stadium, an arena, game and sports halls operate. 14 sports societies, in which about 800 students are engaged, function. The championship on 10 kinds of sport among students and the faculty in which about 5000 students and teachers take part is annually held. Creation of the tax militia department at the University facilitated development and popularity of various kinds of single combats (karate, kickboxing, hand-to-hand fight, etc.).

At the University 100 masters and candidates to a master of sports, 4 deserved masters of sports of Ukraine and 20 masters of sports of the international class study. 8 sportsmen represented the University at the Olympic games XXVIII in Athens. At the University 12 deserved masters of sports and masters of sports of international class on track and field athletics study, among them there are World and European champions, prize-winners of Olympic games. The national combined team of Ukraine includes masters of sports of the international class on biathlon: Lysenko Ruslan, Prima Roman, Korobejnikov Alexey, Bilanenko Alexander, Khvostenko Oxana – champions and prize-winners of the championships of Europe, stages of the World Cup, the World winter university game of 2004.

Among the leading sportsmen of Ukraine there are masters of sports of international class, bronze prize-winners of the world championship on fencing on swords Chumak Dmitry and Osharov Vitaly, master of sports of international class, the bronze prize-winner of Olympic games of 2004 in Athens Vladislav Tretjak. A student of the Financial faculty, master of sports of international class Valentine Shevchenko represents Ukraine in a worthy manner. Valentine won "gold" in competitions on ski races on the World winter university game-2003 in Italy, she won offset of distances and occupied place III in the general offset of the World Cup of 2004.
