The department of sociology, psychology and pedagogics was founded on the basis of the psychology and pedagogics department. From 2002 till 2005 the department was headed by Maksymenko S.D., Doctor of psychological sciences, Professor, Academician of the Academy of pedagogical sciences of Ukraine.
     In 2005 the necessity of the department's reorganisation was connected with opening of a new training direction "Sociology".

     Tkachuk Taisiia Anatoliivna, Candidate of psychological sciences, Associate Professor is the head of the department. In 1995 she graduated from the psychological faculty of the M. Dragomanov National Pedagogical University. In 2004 she defended the Candidate thesis "Development of informative activity of preschool age children". Tkachuk T.A. is the author of over 15 scientific articles, methodical recommendations and a manual.
     34 persons, among them 1 doctor and 10 candidates of sciences, work at the department. Educational qualifying characteristics, educational professional programs, curricula and programs of educational subjects are presented in full at the department. The department provides teaching of such courses: "General psychology", "Professional psychology", "Social psychology", "Conflictology", "Legal psychology", "Communicative psychology", "Pathopsychology", "Psychodiagnostics and treating persons with deviation behaviour", "Advisory psychology and training work", "Management Psychology", "Sociology", "Political Sociology", "Sociology of international relations", "Career Sociology", "Market Sociology", "A person's Sociology", "PR-technology", "Television and radio communication", "Psychology and pedagogics", "Higher education in Ukraine and Bologna process", "General sociological theory", "Public opinion Sociology", "Social defence", etc.
     Results of fruitful scientifically-methodical activity of a group are numerous publications, grants, methodical developments, additional materials to students. Students of other higher educational institutions study by the programs and materials developed by the department. The faculty of the department actively works over adaptation of curricula to module-rating system, and it also has finished the work on the department research "Ethics and psychology of professional work of a tax specialist". The collection of scientific works has been published on the basis of its results.
     In the current conditions a considerable attention is paid to conformity of the training process of the future tax service specialists to modern requirements. On this assumption, the faculty actively introduces new effective forms of study for students (business and role games, specially created trainings, round tables, discussions) and involve students into research work.
     The department holds various actions directed on attraction of students to deep and independent mastering of disciplines of a psychological and pedagogical cycle and sociology. Annual arranging of the department's decade, control of students' researches became a tradition; the best students take part in the University conference "The young Academy". Organisation and holding of the first round of the Olympiad on psychology and sociology enables winners to compete in the second round of the Olympiad at the interuniversity level".
     The faculty actively works over the problems of development and introduction of modern pedagogical technologies in teaching and educational process, possibilities of association of researches with vocational training of tax service specialists in which performance members of the students' scientific community and cadets are involved.
