The Department of Tax Policy and Taxation was created in 2000.

The Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Yulija M. Kovalenko works as the head of the Department.

The Department carries out teaching, methodological, scientific and educational work at all faculties of the University and at Finance and Economics College. It provides training of specialists of all educational-qualifying levels on "Taxation" specialty and conducts "Administration of taxes and payments" specialization.

There are 3 doctors and 8 candidates of sciences at the Department.

The Department provides teaching of the following disciplines.
Masters' programmes in:
– "Fiscal policy";
– "Scientific bases of fiscal administration".
Specialists’ and bachelors’ programmes in:
– "Taxes and fiscal policy";
– "Taxation of enterprise activity";
– "Tax system";
– "Taxes in Ukraine";
– "Administration of taxes and payments";
– "Tax systems of foreign countries";
– "Work with taxpayers and tax inspections' control over enterprises' activity";
– "Control of tax inspections over enterprises' activity";
– "Tax practical work";
– "Taxation of foreign trade activities".

Finance and Economics College:
– "Taxes and taxation";
– "Taxes of natural persons";
– "Taxes of legal persons";
– "Tax system of Ukraine".

The lecturers and instructors of the Department are involved in the research work on "Tax levers and incentives of developing economic systems: basic directions and usage methodology".
The students' scientific society includes 30 persons. Students investigate problems dealing with taxation, take part in faculty, interuniversity, international student's scientific conferences. Students’ scientific conference of and cadets is carried out annually at the Department.

Graduates of the Faculty work in the State Tax Service bodies, State Customs, Pension Fund, State Exchequer, State Auditing Service, Ministry of Finance, Accounting Chamber, and in different commercial structures.
