On September, 1, 2003 the department of information systems and technologies was divided on two branches: department of information systems and technologies and department of administrating information resources. In 2006 the latter was renamed into the department of intellectual systems of decision-making.

Doctor of sciences, professor Sergiy P. Rippa, fulfils the duties of the head of the department.

In 1979 he graduated from Rostov-on-Don Institute of national economy on speciality “Organization of mechanical processing of economic information”. In 1985 he defended his Candidate dissertation and in 1999 – his Doctor dissertation “Economic-mathematical modelling of decision-making on basis of computer bases of knowledge” (on example ogf investment analysis methods)”.
He is the author of more than 60 scientific publications.

There is 1 professor, 3 Associate Professors and 2 senior teachers at the department. The department trains specialists on intellectual systems of decision-making ("Computer sciences") and on administration of informational resources ("Information security").
The professionals and scientists of the department along with the Institute of advanced studies and the Scientific research centre for the problems of taxation support the information resources of electronic library system and distance education system (http://library.ufei.ukrsat.com and http://pr.ufei.ukrsat.com).

The young specialists who graduate from the department can work as organisers and managers in modern information technologies in enterprises, institutions and organizations.
There are the courses “Manager of electronic office” and “Administrator of electronic office” at the department.
