The department of statistics and mathematical methods in economy was founded on the basis of the department of higher mathematics and mathematical methods in economy and the department of audit and economic analysis according to the decision of the Academic Council of the National academy of STS of Ukraine on 02.03.2007.
     The following tasks have been put before the created department:
     – introduction of testing in all the disciplines of the department in the educational process;
     – organization of advising students of economic specialities when preparing a section of master's degree paper on questions of design and prognostication of the economic phenomena;
     – creation of virtual laboratories which will give a possibility to a group of students in real time to carry out experimental researches in the process of practical classes;
     – improvement of students research work;
     – processing of the curricula, educational and methodical literature;
     – preparation of new generation textbooks containing the two-level system of training specialists by the courses assigned to the department;
     – preparation and improvement of existing control and measuring tool, level of training, current and ultimate students' knowledge of the department disciplines;
     – mastering and introduction of modern technical means into the educational process : "from a piece of chalk and a duster" to the electronic drawing of educational material tools;
     – actualization of the research student study, diploma and course projects etc.
     The head of the department is Zayets Svitlana Volodymyrivna, Candidate of economic sciences, Associate Professor.
     In 1987 she graduated from the accounting faculty of the Kyiv D. S. Korotchenko institute of national economy by speciality of "Statistics". Zayets S. V. worked in the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine. She is the author of a number of articles, educational and methodical developments. In 1999 Zayets S. V. defended the Candidate's dissertation "Statistical estimation of social development of a region (on the example of Irpin)".
     The department of statistics and mathematical methods in economy provides teaching of the following disciplines: statistics, statistics of finance, legal statistics, methods of economic and statistical researches, econometrics, economic risk and risk of taxation, methods and models of decision making in taxation, models and methods of decision making in accounting, models and methods of decision making in analysis and audit, methods and models of financial risk management, economic and mathematical models in taxation, macroeconomic prognostication, mathematical and statistical methods of analysis in sociology, research of operations, economic and mathematical modeling, economic and mathematical models in management and economy, financial statistics, banking statistics, market statistics, situational modeling of banking activity.
