In 1996 the department of theoretical economy and humanitarian disciplines was founded; Candidate of philosophical sciences, Associate Professor Maksymenko Ivan Andriyovych was appointed its head.
In 1998 on the basis of this department the department of humanitarian disciplines and the department of economic theory headed by Maksymenko Ivan Andriyovych were created.
I n 1977 Maksymenko I.A. graduated from the economic faculty of the Kyiv Shevchenko state university on the speciality of an economist and a teacher of political economy.

In 1986 he defended the Candidate thesis. Maksymenko I.A. is the author of 72 research and 76 methodical publications, he is a doctoral student of Kyiv national economic university.

The faculty of the department is totaled by 21 person, among them there are: 2 doctors, professors and 9 candidates of economic sciences, Associates Professors.

The collective of the department teaches the following training courses: "Political economy", "Bases of the economic theory", "Macroeconomics", "Microeconomics", "History of economic doctrines", "Economic history", "State regulation of the economy".

Research officers of the department develop the problem “Tax activity of the state in conditions of deepening interrelation and interdependence of national economies” in which research students having a good command of foreign languages (English, French, German, Spanish, Polish, etc.) take part.

The Candidate of philosophical sciences Maksymenko I.A. and the Doctor of economic sciences Starostenko A.G. are co-authors of the monograph “Social and economic processes: methodology of research and management of their development” (2000).
