The Accounting department was created in October, 1996. In 2004 according to the decision of the Academic council the department was divided into the Accounting department and the department of auditing and economic analysis.

The department carries out training of specialists under the bachelor’s and specialist’s program by "Accounting and auditing" speciality (specializations: "Accounting and auditing in industry", "Accounting and auditing in the budgetary organizations and establishments") and under the master’s program "Accounting and auditing in the taxation sphere".

The head of the department is Eugenia Jurijivna Shara, Candidate of economic sciences, Associate Professor.
In 1986 Shara E.Ju. graduated from the Accounting department of the Ukrainian agricultural academy by “Accounting in agriculture” speciality.
In 2001 she defended Candidate dissertation "Financial accounting and analyzing the results of the industrial enterprises’ activity".
Shara E.Ju. is the author of over 20 articles, manuals on problems of accounting and controlling subjects of economic management.

At the department the following disciplines are taught: "Accounting and making administrative decisions», "Accounting", "Accounting in the budgetary organizations and establishments", "Accounting in the field of economic activities", "Introduction into speciality", "Reporting of enterprises", "Information systems and technologies of accounting", "Accounting in banks", "Accounting in Foreign Economic Activity", "Organization and technique of documentary checks", "Accounting in foreign countries", "Organization of accounting", "Basis of researches in economy", "Features of accounting at the small business enterprises", "Tax accounting", "Tax bookkeeping", "Administrative accounting" , "Financial accounting" , "Financial accounting" I, "Financial accounting ІІ".

Graduates of "Accounting and auditing" speciality work as bookkeepers and economists of enterprises, specialists of tax, control-auditing, pension and other services.

The basic direction of the research work at the department is investigating the problems of Accounting and defining their influence on the tax policy reforming. The department works on performance of the complex departmental research "Improvement of the contents of teaching methods and scientific-methodical provision of disciplines according to the Bologna process requirements". Researches are carried out in cooperation with structural STA divisions and the university Research center of taxation problems.

With the purpose of introducing modern computer technologies into educational process teachers of the department teach students to bases of work with automation programs of Accounting "1 С : Book-keeping", "Parus".
At the department the students’ scientific society which structure includes III and IV year students functions. Under the direction of the department’s teachers students take part in Olympiads and scientific conferences. The department organized and carried out stage І of All-Ukrainian Olympiad on the discipline of "Accounting» in which the students of the Accounting department took part.
