The department of technogenic-ecological safety was founded in 1998.

In 1999 the department was headed by Zhelibo Yevgen Petrovych, Doctor of Chemistry, Professor, member of the specialized councils of the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and V.I. Vernadsky Institute of general and inorganic chemistry of the Ukrainian National academy of sciences.

In 1965 Zhelibo Ye. P. graduated from the Kyiv polytechnic institute on the speciality of “Technology of electrochemical manufactures”.

In 1972 he defended the Candidate’s thesis, and in 1998 he defended the Doctoral dissertation on the speciality of “ Colloid and membrane chemistry”, “Technology of electrochemical manufactures”.

Zhelibo Ye. P. supervised and took part in the performance of five republican and branch scientific and technical programs. He is the author of 180 scientific and educational-methodical publications.

At the department one doctor and six candidates of sciences work.

Such normative disciplines are taught: «Ecology», «Safety of the life activity», «Bases of labour protection», « Protection of labour in the STS bodies and bases of regime work», «Protection of work in a region», «Bases of «know-how» in the field of the national economy», «Civil defence».

During 2000-2004 teachers of the department developed the theme «Improvement of the contents and educational-methodical provision of normative disciplines of the department of the life activity safety ». The scientific results received after developing the theme are put in the bases of 10 manuals and 1 textbook, methodical works, lecture courses, 27 articles and 30 theses of reports to the conferences and seminars of different levels. Since 2005 the faculty researches the «Problems of optimization of taxation in innovational, nature- and labour-protecting activity of entrepreneurs». The due date is 2008.

The department investigates the problems of rational nature management and protection of the natural environment, the ecological factor of the state economic safety, economic aspects of modern «know-how» in the field of the national economy; it analyzes operating conditions and dangers of workers’ life activity in non-productive and industrial spheres.
