The department of fighting and physical training was created in 1997 in structure of the tax militia department of the Ukrainian financial and economic institute.
Anatoly I. Subbot, candidate of pedagogical sciences, docent, corresponding member of the international personnel academy, colonel of tax militia, heads the department.
He is the author of more than 40 scientific works.

At the department of fighting and special physical training the following disciplines are taught: "Special physical training", "Physical training", "Automobile training", "Fire training", "Civil defense", "Military training (charters, drill, military topography)", "Labor safety in the STS bodies", "Personal safety of tax militia workers", "Before-doctor help".

The department staff participates actively in the international, republican, branch scientific-theoretical and practical conferences, seminars, cooperates with other educational institutions. Actual complex scientific researches of the further tax service development, improvement of tax specialists training are constantly carried out.

The department staff works on researching the theme "Problems of tax militia employees' safety".
The department took part in a number of scientific-practical conferences in Ukraine and beyond its boundaries.
Carrying out substantive provisions of the target complex program "Physical training is health of the nation", the department of fighting and special physical training applies many efforts for formation of harmoniously advanced youth. Two teachers of the department have the first dun on hand-to-hand fight, five teachers became masters of sports, and three teachers are candidates to masters of sports. Under the guide of the skilled trainers in the faculty sports sections more than 270 cadets are engaged.

Cadets raise their sport skills in 4 sections of hand-to-hand fighting, football, volleyball, athletic gymnastics, shooting, power lifting, weight-lifting sports.
Within the framework of sports actions of the tax militia faculty the games on 15 kinds of sports are held. While holding competitions the professional-applied orientation of tax militia is taken into account. In mass kinds of sports about 100 % of the department staff are involved.
2 cadets of the tax militia faculty became masters of sports of the international class, 9 cadets are masters of sports of Ukraine, 25 cadets are candidates to the master of sports, more than 50 cadets received sports categories. The Europe champion among juniors on karate; two prize-winners of the championship of Europe on all-styles karate; 6 champions of Ukraine on hand-to-hand fight study at the faculty.
The main subject of the department is hand-to-hand fight; therefore the majority of cadets have achieved successes in it and other kinds of single combats.

The combined team on hand-to-hand fight of the tax militia faculty was repeatedly the prize-winner of republican competitions and the winner of competitions on championship of STA, four cadets became masters of sports of Ukraine.

Five times cadets of the University occupied prize-winning places in sports-intellectual game-competition "Patriot" which is held under aegis of St. Andrey Pervozvanny's public fund among cadets of higher educational institutions of the capital's power structures.
