The head of the Department is Onuchak Lyudmyla Volodymyrivna, Candidate of pedagogical sciences, Associate Professor. In 1988 she graduated from the faculty of the English language of the Kyiv National Linguistic university. In 2002 she defended the Candidate's dissertation "Pedagogical conditions of organizing independent out-of-class work of students of economic specialities" by the speciality of "Theory and technique of vocational training". She is the author of 25 scientific works.
Structure of the Department: 4 candidates of pedagogical sciences, 1 Cand.Phil.Sci., 1 candidate of historical sciences, 14 senior instructors, 11 instructors. There are also two aspirants and two receivers of candidate degree of science at our Department.
According to the Fulbright Program of academic exchanging the instructor of the Department Puk N. is working on probation at Monterey university in the USA. The purpose of her staying there is the improvement of professional and methodical skills, obtaining work experience in using innovational technologies and writing the text-book "Academic Writing".  
The Department provides teaching of the following disciplines:
     –  "Foreign language";
     –  "The Foreign language of the professional direction"; 
     –  "Business Foreign language ";
     –  "Latin".
     English, German, French are taught at the Department.
     The Department carries out research work on the subject "Introduction of modern forms, contents and methods of training in practice of teaching foreign languages". The Department carries out the following actions:
     –  All-Ukrainian scientific-methodical seminar "Modern innovational technologies in teaching foreign languages" (December, 1, 2004).
     –  The scientific-methodical seminar "Adult students. Problems of training" (December 6, 2004).
     – The scientific seminar-practical work for teachers of higher educational nstitutions of Ukraine "The English language for professional dialogue within the framework of the program "Language education: a way to Eurointegration" (May 24-25, 2005) (In cooperation with the British Council in Ukraine).
     Annually for students and cadets of the university scientific-practical seminars, conferences and round tables in English, German and French are carried out. At the Department there are courses of English and Polish for students and clubs for students interested in English, German and French. In the framework of the decade the department carries out different kinds of activity: competitions of the best literary translation of original English, German and French verses, Olympiad on foreign languages, quizzes, scientific-methodical presentations of the British Council in Ukraine and poetical-musical meetings in English.
     Since 2004 the department is provided with computer educational-examination classes permitting to increase considerably quality of studying foreign languages and mastering program material by students. During 2004-2005 the instructors and professors of the Department developed and introduced into educational process computer educational modules on the following themes: "THE STRUCTURE OF A COMPANY " (Volkova L.V.); "MONEY", "BANKS" (Zapolskaja Z.F.); " PRICES AND PRICING ", "SUPPLY AND DEMAND", "ECONIMIC REFORMS IN UKRAINE" (Garashchenko L.M.); "TAX SYSTEM" (Chayka L. V.); "TAX MILITIA", "TAX AUDITING IN UKRAINE" (Fokanova L.V.); "US FISCAL POLICY" (Teodorovich A.J.); " BRANCHES OF LAW " (Puk N.V.); "INTERNATIONAL LAW", "CRIMINAL LAW" (Dyoma N.S.); "POLITICAL SYSTEM OF GREAT BRITAIN" (Polishchuk O.V.). The program "ENGLISH FOR ECONOMISTS" (reading aspect) is important for educational process which contains educational modules on five basic themes of economic direction: ECONOMICS, FINANCE, MARKETING, MANAGEMENT, and MONEY. With the help of the program "Hot Potatoes" video modules about the big cities of America: "SEATTLE"," NEW ORLEANS ", "PHILADELPHIA", "CHICAGO", "WASHINGTON D.C." were inserted. Video modules are designed to develop skills of listening, reading, writing, speaking and computer typing. Students and tutors have also an opportunity to work with CDs (English, French and German languages):
     – TOEFL (a sample of the international examination on the English language);
     – Business English (a course of business English language);
     – Further Ahead (a sample of the international examination on business English
language, relevant to level Bl according to the EC classification);
     – Learn to Speak English - Professor Higgins (the program for development of
phonetic and grammar skills);
     – Talk to Me (the program for development of skills of auditing and writing.
German language);
     – Telephoning in English (business phone conversations);
     – Tell Me More (the program for development of skills of auditing, speaking,
reading);
     – French. Platinum (French) (the program for development of skills of reading,
auditing, writing. The French language);
     – Headway (elementary), (video course);
     – Headway (advanced), (audio course), etc.
     The groups with extended learning English were founded at the Department of Finance and Banking System in 2007-2008 academic year. It gives the students an opportunity to get diplomas of special form "Bachelor of Finance with knowledge of foreign language" after graduating from the university.
