The department of foreign languages was created in 1975. Traditions of the collective are kept by the senior teachers: Breus G.V. (she has been working at the educational institution since 1962) and Bilokur V. K. (he has been teaching here since 1970).
The department provides teaching of the English, French, German and Spanish languages in a professional way.

The department works on the research theme "Introduction of modern forms, contents and methods of training in practice of foreign languages teaching".

Since 2000 under the guide of the department teacher Volkova L.V. and with assistance of Students' parliament of the academy club of the English language experts "Top success" began its work. Every week members of the German language club "Tip top" and the French language society – "Beau monde" organize their meetings. The most active members of the clubs take part in the international students' conferences and congresses, meetings with foreign representatives.

Within the framework of the annual department Decade the following measures are carried out: Olympiad on the best foreign language expert; an interuniversity scientific-methodical seminar; competition of wall newspapers; watching of educational video films, meetings with youth and experts from different countries of the world, presentation of the educational centers of foreign representatives; competition on the best literary translation of a verse; a quiz "The weakest link"; musical party.
