The department of vital activity security, labor safety and safety measures was founded in 1998 in structure of the Ukrainian financial and economic institute.
The first head of the department was candidate of geological-mineralogical sciences Skopichenko Igor Mihajlovich.

In 1999 the department was headed by Zhelibo Evgen Petrovych, Doctor of Chemistry, professor, the tax service adviser of rank I.
Teachers of the department participate actively in researching the theme "Improvement of the contents and educational-methodical provision of normative disciplines of the department of vital activity security".

The teaching staff of the department is a constant participant of international, all-Ukrainian, regional scientific – practical and scientific-methodical conferences on problems of vital activity security and ecology. The department deals with problems of rational wildlife management and protection of an environmental habitat; research of the ecological factor of economic safety of the country; modern "know-how" in the field of national economy; analyzes operating conditions and vital activity security of the state tax service workers of Ukraine, industrial sphere and urbanism.

Students' scientific-practical conferences, round tables and scientific seminars on ecology questions, a labor safety and vital activity security are traditionally held.
